Jesus First

There is scriptural evidence that God does speak to his people concerning political matters; however, prophetic voices can also become tainted by personal opinions, experiences and environment. The Prophetic Community needs to remember that all the candidates are professing Christians, and it is the responsibility of the Church including the Prophetic Community to affirm the Christian faith of all the candidates. Scripture tells us; Let brotherly love continue. Hebrews 13:1. The question for the church today is: Is the body of Christ one? Or is the body of Christ divided according to political affiliations?

If Obama is my brother in the Lord and your brother in the Lord, should we not love him?

If McCain is my brother in the Lord and your brother in the Lord, should we not love him?

If Biden is my brother in the Lord and your brother in the Lord, should we not love him?

If Palin is my sister in the Lord and your sister in the Lord, should we not love her?

The love of God never fails, even when there are opposing philosophies between believers. The church including the Prophetic Community can continue in brotherly love toward our political candidates by praying for them all, as we would pray for our own children, with sincere love.

We need to guard the prophetic gift from abuse. The prophetic gift should not be used to manipulate and coerce people. It is a trust that Gods gives us to speak for him, so we must be careful to avoid speaking our agendas. We dishonor God when we say things in his name that he has not spoken.

1 Samuel 2:7-10

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

Every believer can experience certainty and peace in turbulent times because we know the one who has the whole world in his hands. If the Republican Party wins, God wins because He is in control, and if the Democratic wins, God wins because He is still in control. God has given Jesus all power and authority in heaven and in earth; this does not change every 4 or 8 years. Jesus is the "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords" and we are in the Kingdom of God. The battle cry of this Kingdom of God citizen is "Jesus First".
